    MISS CATHERINE (Kate) HOLT, of Princes Highway, Officer, passed away at her home on Friday last at the venerable age of 91. Born in Berwick, the late Miss Holt, was the daughter of the late William and Catherine Holt, and aunt of the late Jack Holt, the well-known racing trainer. She had lived in the district all her life and was widely esteemed. After Requiem Mass at St. Patrick’s Church, Pakenham, on Monday morning, the funeral left for the Pakenham Cemetery, where Rev. Fr. Hardie offered up the graveside prayers in the presence of a large crowd of mourners. The pall bearers were Crs. Dore, Harris and Thewlis, Messrs. J. Hicks, B. Apted, B. Swift, D. Bourke and E. Robinson. W. J. Garnar & Son carried out the funeral arrangements.3

  • 26 Jan 1911: Obituary. We learn from the "Age," of 19th inst., that Mr William Telford Webb, who was well known in Victorian political circles a few years ago, died suddenly on Tuesday, at St. Kilda, whilst visiting the metropolis. The deceased was an old settler in the Rochester district, prominently connected with the farming and flour milling interests, and was one of the founders of the frozen produce industry in the state. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly in 1889 as one of the members for Rodney, and represented this district until 1904, when he retired from politics. He was Commissioner of Public Works and Minister of Agriculture in the Patterson Ministry from January, 1893, to September, 1894. He also took a keen interest in local municipal affairs, and was one of the leading members of Rochester Shire Council for many years. Mr Webb was 79 years of age. He has left a widow and three daughters.5
  • 11 Feb 1911: The will has been lodged of the late William Telford Webb, of Rochester, miller, who left £49,961 to his widow and children.6
