They agreed to give up and forego their right and interest in and to the said road on condition that they the said Robert Buchanan and James Buchanan should pay Ernestine Beer the widow of Mr Beer who lately met his death by accident in the said Parish of Berwick the sum of thirtyfive pounds fifteen shillings being at the rate of two pounds ten shillings per acre for the land reserved for the purpose of said road.12
