    ON SUNDAY EVENING last, Mr. Herbert Edward Miller, of Brisbane St., Berwick, passed peacefully away in his sleep at the age of 77 years. A retired farmer, he was born at Wangoon. His wife pre-deceased him in June, 1944. The largely attended funeral left deceased’s late home on Monday for the Berwick Cemetery where Rev. W: H. D. McMeekin recited the service. The pall-bearers were: Cr. C. Greaves, Messrs. L. Miller, G. Henderson, A. F. Strong, J. T. Chappie, G. Hudson, M. Cummins, G. Hayes and L. M. Bailey. W. J. Garnar and Son had charge of the funeral.7

    BORN at Weselton (England) but a resident of Victoria for the past 65 years—may of them spent at Berwick—Mrs. Jane Miller, of Brisbane street, Berwick, passed away at her home on June 8, after an illness of several months. She is deeply mourned, for, during her long residence in this district, she earned the liking and respect of all who got to know her. All sympathise with her husband in the sad loss he has sustained. Many friends gathered at the graveside in the Berwick Cemetery on Friday, and participated in the service conducted by the Rev. W. P. Daunt, who also officiated at the home.
    The pall-bearers were Messrs. C. Greaves, L. Miller, G. Henderson, W. Cooper, H. Wilson, M. Cummins, N. Quinn, and J. Lindsay.
    W. J. Garnar and Son carried out the funeral arrangements.5
