Village Bell* | Sep 2005 | Red Cross service award for Barbara Jackson Barbara Jackson joined the Upper Beaconsfield/ Berwick Unit of the Red Cross in April 1995. Over the last 10 years Barbara has been a very active member. She has been involved in the transporting of patients to medical appointments and the elderly to meetings, run raffles and organized the sale of Red Cross Christmas cards. Barbara also chaired her Red Cross unit from July 1998 to July 2001. She has worked at the Cranbourne Red Cross shop and is currently working at the Pakenham shop. Many Upper Beaconsfield residents will be aware of Barbara's marvellous job in organizing volunteers for the annual March Red Cross Calling in our area. Barbara is the unit's publicity officer and submits articles to our Village Bell and the Pakenham Gazette. On the recent occasion of unit's 90th birthday, Barbara produced a history of the unit and read it at a celebration held at the City of Casey Civic Centre. Barbara is an enthusiastic and dedicated Red Cross member and is truly deserving of the Australian Red Cross Award. Barbara received her award at a ceremony held at Government House.6 |
