A Morrah, Esq. Secretary for Lands
Sir, In reply to your letter of the 18th inst. I have the honor to state that I complied with the regulations by fencing and sowing with Eng. grasses, the same as my neighbour Mr A May who has purchased his selection, and others (with the exception that Mr Brisbane conducted his application). My selection can only be reached on foot till the roads are cleared of fallen timber and crossings made. The ground is of such poor description that I doubt that even grass will grow on it, except in patches on the low-lying portions.
I have the honor to be, Sir, Your obedient servant. John Robertson

A Morrah, Esq. Secretary for Lands
Sir, Having had no reply to my letter of the 29th July (in which I answered your's of 18th same month) I cannot understand how there could be any objection to having my block put up for sale, when Messrs May, Mitchell and McIvor have got theirs, and I have done all that they have. By referring to the plan of Pakenham you will see that I had a great deal more fencing to pay for than either of the above gentlemen, and I may state that it was fenced by the same man who did theirs.
I paid at the same rate as they did, and I have done everything that they have done, and along with them, and I cannot see why there can be any distinction made, unless in my favor, as my fencing cost me more than either of theirs.
An early answer will oblige.
I am, Sir, Your obedient servant. John Robertson.2

The marriage of Claude, youngest son of Mr and Mrs C. Hill, of Dallas avenue, Oakleigh, with Ida, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs George Tydeman, of Horsham, took place at St. Michael and St. John's R.C. Church, Horsham, on April 23. Rev. Father Phelan officiated, and Miss Irene Hynes presided at the organ.
The stately bride's sleeveless silver beaded gown had a satin train outlined with silver, and lined with georgette. Her embroidered tulle veil was caught to the head with a bandeau, and side clusters of orange blossoms, and she carried a shower bouquet, of white roses, phlox, and pale pink carnations.
She was attended by her sisters, Miss Genevieve Tydeman wore a sleeveless Early Victorian frock of rainbow taffeta, with yoke and hem of cyclamen georgette. Miss Ena Tydeman's bouffant frock of blush pink taffeta had a petalled hem, and a large taffeta water lily rested at one hip. They wore veils of floral bordered tulle and bandeaux of ribbon and foliage to tone, and carried posies of ageratum, pink carnations and sweet peas. Mr Barry Tydeman, the bride's brother, was best man, with Mr Coleman Davis as groomsman.
The reception was held at Perring's Cafe. Mrs Tydeman wore a black georgette frock, with a petunia georgette vest, and a felt hat to match. The bridegroom's mother was in black satin, with touches of green and brown, and an osprey finished her black velvet hat. After the honeymoon in Melbourne and Gippsland, Mr and Mrs C. Hill, are residing at Welshpool, South Gippsland. Claude Edgar James Hill13

A WEDDING of local interest was celebrated at St. Michael’s Church, Berwick, on Saturday, October 1st, at 4.30 p.m., when Jacqueline, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked beautiful in a white French lace gown, made with short puff sleeves and fitting bodice finished with tiny ruchings of net at neck and shoulder line, and full circular skirt trimmed with circles of ruched net, falling into a train. Her full length tulle veil was held in place with a halo of net and orange blossom and she carried a bouquet of white gardenias and hyacinths.
