  • 21 Feb 1951: Berwick Diggers Recognises Services Of Mrs A. Tonks
Berwick R.S.L. last Thursday night arranged a very pleasant social, and dance in the Memorial Hall, for the purpose of presenting a Certificate of Merit to Mrs. Albert Tonks, former president of the Women’s R.S.L. Auxiliary for 11½ years, and actively associated with the League since the first World War. The Certificate was from the Federal Executive of the R.S.L., and carries with it a medallion which goes to only those who have rendered signal service to the League. In making the presentation, Cr. Claude Harris, of Upper Beaconsfield, who, up until last year, was president of the sub-branch for 17 consecutive years, thanked Mrs. Tonks warmly for her loyal support.
The evening took the form of an enjoyable dance, for which Humphries’ Orchestra provided bright music.6
