  • 29 Jul 1939: WIDOW AWARDED £825
    An award for £825 was made in favor of a widow by Judge Perdriau in the Workers' Compensation Court yesterday.
    Ethel Mary Etheridge, of Brougham Street, Darlinghurst, claimed that amount from the Water and Sewerage Board for the death of her husband, Thomas Clinton Etheridge, 53.
    She claimed that he died from pneumonia on June 27, 1938, following unusual exposure to weather while employed as a carpenter on the Warragamba Dam.
    When Judge Perdriau delivered his decision Mrs. Etheridge broke down and wept. Her 11-year-old son was included in the compensation as a dependent on his father.10
