  • 18 Aug 1943: Old Lang Lang Identity Dies In 95th Year
GRAND OLD MAN of Lang Lang for many years, Mr. Peter McCraw passed away on Friday fast when only two months off his 95th. birthday. A fine character, he was a member of a family famed for its longevity, his brother Frank, who died about five months ago, and another brother, William, who died three years ago, both reaching the age of 87.
A native of Kircaldie (Scotland) the late Peter McCraw came to Australia with his parents, the late James and Jane McCraw, when only three years old. For the next 26 years he resided at Prahran. Then he went to Nar Nar Goon, where he farmed successfully for 20 years. Finally he moved to Lang Lang and for the past 45 years was a very popular and highly esteemed citizen of that district. His daughters—Mary (Mrs. Duff), and Elizabeth (Mrs. Hogan), and his son, James, have the heartfelt sympathy of their innumerable friends in the loss they have sustained.
The funeral left deceased’s late home in Main street, Lang Lang, last Saturday for the St. Kilda cemetery where the remains were intered in the family grave. Rev. Fr. Edward Durkin performed the last sad rites., and Messrs. F. J. McCraw, C. McCraw, and L. Greaves and L. Duff acted as coffin-bearers.
    W. J. Garnar and Son directed the funeral.4
