William Philips Delany v William John Turner Clarke
VPRS 267/P0007, 1864/967. - [S253] Letter from Michael CLARKE to Cameron Rocke, 2 May 1994 Excerpt from letter: "You will see that land at Berwick was let to McDonald Brothers in 1874, and to Edwin Greaves in 1897.
It is of interest that the McDonald rent in 1874 was $300 per annum, but the moneys lent, rent and interest amounted to £4835. This appears to indicate that WJT Clarke had lent money to the McDonalds to develope the property. If we assume that the loan was used to build a cheese factory this project dates back before 1874, and probably to the 1860s." - [S35] Probate Records, PROV (Public Record Office Victoria), 11 / 607 - committed to Wm John CLARKE and Joseph CLARKE.
