Storey v. Henwood, commission account, £2 10s. Commission due on sale of land Gembrook as per agreement.
Mr. Fausset appeared for defendant. The land in question had been bought from a Mr Cruikshank, who, in the box, said that he and the defendant had agreed to pay £2 10s. each on the above sale. The latter part of the statement, Mr. Fausset, on behalf of defendant, denied, and this denial was supported by the evidence of the defendant. He argued that it was an imposition, and that no agreement had been made for any payment of commission. Case dismissed without costs.8

  • 12 Sep 1904: CAPTURED A SEAL.
An unusual capture was made this morning, or rather last night, by Mr Frank Henwood, a resident of Port Melbourne. A seal has recently been disporting himself on the sands near Middle Park, and yesterday Mr. Searls, proprietor of the local baths, tried to capture him, but he got away. The same seal, or one of his relatives, was seen during the evening on the beach; at Port Melbourne, and Mr. Henwood, who noosed him securely after a hard fight got him well up on the land and hitched him safely for a night to a post. This morning the captive, who is over 9ft long, was, despite his vicious efforts to escape, lifted into a cart and taken, to the Aquarium, where he will be on view.10
