  • 3 May 1924: HERGA—KING. Many friends of the bride thronged to the Methodist Church, Albert Park, on March 12, when Miss Thelma King, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John King, of ''El Dorado," Beaconsfield-parade, Albert Park, Melbourne, became Mrs. Phil. Herga. The bridesgroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Herga, of Nundah, Brisbane, who are at present touring the Continent. Friends of the bride tastefully decorated the church with white roses and iris. The officiating clergyman was the Rev. Alfred Madsen, assisted by Rev. H. Stiles Heath, B.A. The organ, with Mr. H. W. Gregory at the keys, pealed through the church as the bride entered with her father. She wore a gown of ivory satin morocain and silver lace, finished at one side with cabachons of diamente. The train, which fell from the shoulders, was of brocaded crepe de chine, lined with salmon pink georgette and finished with true lovers' knots of-Silver and orange blossom. A wreath of orange blossom encircled the Honiton lace veil, and a shower bouquet of waterlilies and pink tiger lilies was the complement.
Little Alison Bremner, who wore an accordion-pleated frock of salmon pink satin, was the train-bearer. Miss Gwen King (only sister of the bride) and Miss Adrienne Wiseman were bridesmaids, both wearing reseda green satin morocain, trimmed with black ribbon velvet and iridescent cabachons.
Both wore black velvet Lady Betty hats, finished with soft feather mounts the same shade as their frocks, and carried shower bouquets of pink roses and fern. The best man was Mr. Barry Chadwick and the groomsman Mr. Frank Strickland.
After the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. King received about 50 guests at Carlyon's, St. Kilda, where the tables were artistically decorated in mauve and pink. The bride and bridegroom left for the honeymoon, the former travelling in a smart fawn costume with oriental touches and with a black velvet hat finished with a three-toned feather butterfly.
